Planning A Move

3 Things To Ask A Moving Company About While Moving During A Pandemic

If you are getting ready to move, you may have all kinds of worries on your platter, including moving during a global pandemic. You may have decided that you want to use a moving service to help you move, for whatever reason. If you are going to use a moving service, you may be concerned about how that will work during these trying times. You want to make sure that you and your family are safe as well as the people who are going to be doing the actual move for you. There are some things that you can ask the moving company before you hire them so that you can make the most informed and safest decision.

Masking Procedure

Wearing a mask or face covering is one of the best ways to make sure that everyone is safe. You want to make sure that you are wearing a mask when you are in contact with people who aren't in your family or bubble. You also want to make sure that people who are coming into your space are wearing a mask. Ask the moving company what their stand is on masking and when they require their employees to be wearing a mask. Ideally, it should be worn the whole time they are moving your items from your house into the truck, and then from the truck to the new house.

Quarantining Procedure

You also want to know what kind of quarantine or isolation procedure the moving company is using. For example, do they require any employees who have been exposed to Covid to stay home from work for a certain amount of time or until they can provide a negative test or both. This is for your safety as well as the safety of everyone who is involved with the company.

Notifications

You are going to be in close contact with the movers, even if you distance and are all masked, which means that if someone is carrying the Covid virus and is asymptomatic or pre-symptomatic, they could be shedding the virus. You want to know how the moving company is going to handle notifying you in case one of the movers who worked with you does end up being sick, or if you end up being sick and need to notify the mover that they were possibly exposed.

Moving can be difficult at the best of times. During something like a pandemic, it can get infinitely harder. Check with the moving company to see how they can help you.
